BBB Scam Alert: Meta’s new subscription service

On Sunday, February 19, Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company is introducing Meta Verified, a paid “blue verification badge” for Facebook and Instagram that will be available later. According to the news release, the monthly subscription service includes a verification badge, protection against impersonating accounts, increased visibility, priority customer service and other exclusive features. Previously, Twitter also announced its blue checkmark program.

Fischer statement on Russia suspending New START

Free clothing at Closing Closet in Burwell

The Clothing Closet located at the First Christian Church, 817 J Street in Burwell, is open every Friday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. All shoppers are welcome. All clothing and additional items are free. All donations are accepted and sorted by volunteers. Items that are not consumed locally through the Clothing Closet are sent to other missions throughout Nebraska and the United States. The Clothing Closet is a tremendous recycling program and a very successful mission serving many people in central Nebraska and beyond.

Governor Pillen comments on Revenue Forecast

LINCOLN – Governor Jim Pillen reacted to the decision by the Nebraska Economic Forecasting Advisory Board (NEFAB) to make no additional adjustments to the revenue forecast, as presented last October. That forecast was used to determine the sustainability of tax cuts and proposals to benefit Nebraska children, which were included in the Governor’s budget.

Donate blood March 2

March is Red Cross Month, and for more than 130 years, heroic American Red Cross volunteers have provided hope and urgent relief to families in communities across the country. This March the community is invited to join in the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross and be someone’s hero by rolling up a sleeve to five blood March 2, from 11:30 a.m.

2022 St. John’s Food Pantry annual report

In 2022 the St. John’s Food Pantry served from 45 to 65 people each month. We had a total of 34 new adults and 24 new children signed up for assistance during 2022. Our prayers go out to those in need, and we praise God we can be of help to them.
