Senators visit southern border

LINCOLN – U.S. Senators Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.) traveled to the Rio Grande Valley this week as part of a Senate delegation trip to survey the current state of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Funding the Future Rocks Financial Literacy at Valentine High School

Valentine – Funding the Future, in partnership with Carter Hulsey, will visit Valentine High School on Wednesday, March 8, at 9:00 a.m. to share with students the importance of financial literacy. Students from Keya Paha County High School will also be attending the show.

Our final installment of the Valentine Police Deparment’s annual report will include the officers who are patrolling our streets, along with Administrative Assistant Bobbi Johnson who helps to keep the department evidence.

Cherry County Ambulance 2022 Years Of Service Recognition

Thedford Volunteer Rescue Squad is proud to announce the installation of a Stryker Power Load system in one of the department’s ambulances. Of the two ambulance’s they have, one is already equipped with a powerload and has proven to be a great asset.

Active Shooter was a hoax at VHS

Valentine Police Chief Dana Miller said, “We’ve joined a long list of SWAT team calls across the state.” She’s referring to the active shooter hoax that took place Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Valentine High School and said, “The call came in about 9:22 a.m., I was on an ambulance call before that...My understanding was it was someone pretending to be a male student - it could have been anybody; the male was reporting a shooting at the high school.” Valentine Community School’s Superintendent Mike Halley said, “On March 2, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Valentine Police Department was contacted with a report of an active shooter at Valentine High School. Chief Miller contacted VHS and the Standard Response Protocol was activated.

She is licensed for hair in Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and South Dakota and has been in the profession for the past 10 years.

CSC announces Dean’s List Chadron State College has announced the names of 341 students who qualified for the institution’s Fall 2022 Dean’s List by earning at least a 3.5 grade point average. To qualify, students must be enrolled in 12 credit hours of coursework, be seeking their first bachelor’s degree, and have no incomplete grades during the semester.
