Brown and Rock County become a National Weather Service StormReady County

The National Weather Service in North Platte has recognized Brown and Rock County as StormReady counties. The StormReady program helps community leaders and residents better prepare for hazardous weather and flooding. StormReady counties have made a strong commitment to implement the infrastructure and systems needed to save lives and protect property when severe weather strikes.

Troopers arrest 26 impaired drivers over Thanksgiving weekend

NOVEMBER 28, 2022 — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol removed from the road 26 impaired drivers during Thanksgiving weekend; which marked one of the busiest travel times of the year and coincided with the national Click it or Ticket campaign. Troopers across Nebraska joined law enforcement officers across the country in the annual Thanksgiving weekend effort, which ran from Wednesday through Sunday.

Judge Kozisek grants motions to suppress in Kilmer case

In a 12 page document Judge Kozisek lists his judgement on the defendant, Kevin Kilmer’s attorney, Todd Lancaster’s motion to suppress statements that had been filed August 8, 2022. A hearing was held September 13, 2022 and Judge Kozisek’s judgement was released November 26, 2022.

City Manager Shane Siewert said, “We had to purchase new Christmas decorations because the old ones are not compatible with the new decorative streetlights and were looking a little worn. There are four of each kind of character decorations, including 4.5' X 8' Pine Christmas Trees, 4' X 6' Double Candle Scrolls, 4.5' X 8' Snowmen, and 4.5' X 8' Stockings.

Keys named 2022 Northeast Agceptional Woman of the Year!

NORFOLK – An advocate for agriculture in Nebraska has been recognized for her contributions to the industry. Anita Keys of Elsmere, was named 2022 Agceptional Woman of theYearduringNortheastCommunity College’sAgceptionalWomen’s Conference recently on the Northeast campus in Norfolk.

Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame nominations due by December 31, 2022

The public is invited to submit nominations for the 2023 Nebraska Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame. Nominations are due by December 31, 2022. Started in 2006, the Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame continues to honor the men and women who have made a lasting contribution to the Sandhills and our cowboy way of life.
