Traditions are a great thing and Valentine is celebrating its 79th year with our annual Heart City Heart award. Each year we get nominations that are heartwarming and deserving. We appreciate individuals taking the time to nominate others. As we are all too familiar with the winter weather we have all endured, there are numerous people in our community that have put in the hours to shovel, plow, and move snow. The city, county and state roads department, along with private contractors, putting in the extra time and hours in making sure all our ranchers can access main roads and highways. You are all appreciated more than you realize, and your work has not gone unnoticed.

Range students receive scholarships The Nebraska Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS), the Nebraska Soil and Water Conservation Foundation (NSWCF), and the Nebraska Chapter SWCS-UNL Foundation have announced scholarship recipients for the spring 2023 semester. Recipients attending Chadron State College of the $1,000 include KayLynn Miller of Valentine, a junior majoring in Rangeland Management with a wildlife emphasis.
