City Council discusses childcare needs

The Valentine City Council met for their regular monthly meeting at the City Library Meeting Room, Thursday, August 11, 2022. The following individuals were in attenndance: City Clerk Deanna Schmit, City Manager Shane Siewert, Council members Kyle Arganbright, Kalli Kieborz, Neil Wescott, Dave Dent, and Ross Brockley. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

Patty Tinant and grandkids Raken and Takorah flew to Mansfield, MA to visit Patty’s family. Lucas and Becky Tinant and family drove there, and Marshal Tinant and Hanna Wade joined the group also. They enjoyed going to the beach on Cape Cod and hit the sports scene by attending a Red Sox game, and going to the Patriots Hall of Fame. A highlight for Raken was getting David Ortiz’s autograph on a baseball! Great family time!

Willard would have been surprised and humbled at the send-off he was given on July 6; so many relatives and friends helped to bring joy in the midst of sorrow. Thank you for the cards, memorials, flowers and for just being there.

Practicing safety in the summer sun

Lincoln – In August, Summer Sun Safety Month is the time of year when people spend more time outdoors. Whether swimming in the pool, going to the beach, or strolling in the park, summer can be the best time of the year. However, people should be aware of the danger of prolonged sun exposure.

Rollover accident and weather begin series of fires

Thursday, August 4, 2022, an accident was called into the Valentine Police Department at 6:25 p.m. According to Valentine Police Chief Dana Miller, the semi,owned by Open Road, LLC of Oklahoma, was headed northbound and either speed, or vehicle malfunction caused the accident - which has not been undetermined. Chief Miller said the road was cleared of ambulance, fire, and law enforcement by 9:35 p.m. that evening.
