USDA accepts more than 3.1 million acres in grassland CRP signup

LINCOLN, Nebraska, July 13, 2022 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is accepting offers for more than 3.1 million acres from agricultural producers and private landowners nationwide through this year’s Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) Grassland Signup, the highest in history. The signup’s results include 421,911 acres in Nebraska. This program allows producers and landowners to continue grazing and haying practices while protecting grasslands and promoting plant and animal biodiversity and conservation, and it’s part of the Biden-Harris administration’s broader effort to address climate change and to conserve natural resources.

Emergency Relief Program deadline extended and more pre-filled forms for 2020, 2021 disasters are mailed

WASHINGTON, July 27, 2022 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced it will indefinitely extend the deadline for producers to return the pre-filled applications for Phase One of the Emergency Relief Program (ERP). A new deadline will be announced after the last Phase One applications are mailed and provide at least 30 days following the mailing.

Artemis 1: A Trip Around the Moon – and Back!

We are returning to the Moon - and beyond! Later this summer, NASA’s Artemis 1 mission will launch the first uncrewed flight test of both the Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft on a multi-week mission. Orion will journey thousands of miles beyond the Moon, briefly entering a retrograde lunar orbit before heading back to a splashdown on Earth.
