UNL announces spring Dean’s List More than 6,200 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the spring semester of the 2021-22 academic year. Work continues ahead of schedule: Barnes Construction will complete removal of the existing concrete roadway for A Street through 1st Street. The next removals on south Main will be part of the next phase.

Free summer fun at Niobrara National Scenic River

Valentine – The Niobrara National Scenic River (NSR) is happy to announce summer programs! The Niobrara National Scenic River will be hosting Junior Ranger programs on Sunday mornings (excluding special event days) at Smith Falls State Park through Labor Day. On days with special events or adverse weather, the Junior Ranger program will be offered at the Niobrara National Scenic River Visitor Center located in Valentine.

Angels in the Sandhills

Disheartening events are happening every day. It seems that the worst of humanity is featured on television and other media. Something happened recently that helped restore my hope that bad news coverage is not everywhere. Especially here in the Sandhills.

North Platte’s National Weather Service radar to be upgraded

Beginning July 11, 2022, the KLNX WSR-88D operated by NO- AA’s National Weather Service in North Platte will be down for approximately two weeks for an important upgrade. Technicians will refurbish and replace the pedestal, one of the most critical components of the radar, which is necessary for antenna rotation and positioning to capture data in all directions. The components are extremely heavy and will require the radome to be removed by crane and replaced when the work is completed.
