Gov. Ricketts’ statement on Roe v. Wade being overturned

LINCOLN – June 24, 2022, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement after the United States Supreme Court ruled that “the Constitution does not confer a right to abortion” and overturned both Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey:

Stop undermining women’s equal opportunities

Lincoln – Attorney General Peterson is joining a multistate coalition demanding that President Joe Biden stop plans to undermine protections for women contained in federal law. Biden is proposing sweeping changes to Title IX of the Education Amendments that would dramatically diminish provisions intended to protect women by expanding the law to include gender identity.

COVID-19 Vaccine has been approved for children six months to four years

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have approved and now recommend vaccinations for children that are six months to four years old. This means that any person six months and older is now able to get vaccinated for COVID-19 to help fight the pandemic that has been part of our world for the last two years.

Cherry County Tourism 2021 Passport winner

Congratulations Brian Bopp, 2021 Cherry County Passport Winner! Brian Bopp won a $1,000 Cherry County vacation package! He and his family completed all 37 stops on the inaugural Cherry County Passport program that was inside last year’s Explore Valentine magazine. What if?

What is wrong with the world today? So many answers to that loaded question for sure, but the question still bears asking, especially in our little town. “What if ?” Emergency Manager Director and Communications Director for Cherry and Keya Paha County Matt Sandoz, along with Cherry County Ambulance, Cherry County Hospital, Valentine Fire Department, Valentine Police Department, Cherry County Sheriff, and a member from each of the schools met via Zoom in the Cherry County EOC recently, to have a table top exercise through UNL.
