Join the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission in celebrating our state’s native pollinators — including more than 200 species of butterflies — during Nebraska Pollinator Week this June 20-26. Pollinator Week, in Nebraska and internationally, is an effort to celebrate and raise awareness about pollinators and their conservation.

On 06/05/2022 at 10:35 a.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of East Highway 20 for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The unoccupied vehicle was found to have rolled into the ditch. No property damage occurred.

An update on utilities and concrete surfacing work for the IN VALENTINE projects: The intersection at 3rd and Main will be open to cross traffic. The remaining sidewalks on 3rd Street are scheduled to be placed, cross traffic will resume and be able to cross Main Street.

After the convention in Valentine the board decided that we needed to move the convention back to the spring-like it has been since the Sandhills Cattle Association started holding our annual convention and trade show,” organizers said. “This year we started our 83rd annual Convention and trade show on Thursday, May 26, with our 25th annual Golf Classic at the Atkinson-Stuart Country Club. We had another great turnout on this beautiful golf course this year with 40 golfers. The day began with our usual shotgun start at 10:00 a.m., and the teams had a day full of fun on this course.”

On Monday, June 13, 2022 the Board of Directors of the Middle Niobrara NRD (MNNRD) voted 6-0 to approve modifications to the Rules and Regulations of the MNNRD. Modifications covered the following topics: 1.) Updates to the glossary of terms.

Trout in the Classroom, a Nebraska Game and Parks Commission educational opportunity for schools, is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The interdisciplinary, sciencebased program invites classrooms to explore aquatic ecosystems, life cycles, water quality and the scientific process through raising trout eggs in their classroom.

The Semisaurus Mobile Creation Museum roared into town on May 31, 2022 bringing with it high tech displays, fossils, ancient artifacts and lots of evidence-based information to teach the Truth about creation and evolution.
