Game and Parks accepting RTP, LWCF outdoor recreation grant applications

Two federal grant programs administered by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission are accepting applications from communities across Nebraska for recreation improvements. Applications for the Recreation Trails Program and Land and Water Conservation Fund are due September 9, 2022.

Decades of steady, grassroots efforts by pro-life advocates are yielding not just state-level legislation which recognizes the humanity of unborn children but a growing culture of life which seeks to compassionately connect with expectant mothers who lack support.

Congratulations Cody-Kilgore and Valentine High School Class of 2022

Cody-Kilgore’s class of 2022 held their Commencement Exercises Saturday, May 14, at 10:00 a.m. MST. Their class flower was the orange dahlia; class colors, black, white, and orange; class song, We are Young by Fun; and class motto: “I regret nothing. The end.” Ron Swanson. They had two honor speakers, Riley Jones and Annalise Busentiz. Here is what Riley said to her fellow classmates and audience members:

Kallah Markley was born and raised in the Heart City, and is the owner of Sweet Aura Spa and Salon. “I have the best husband and two amazing boys. I am happy to raise my family in this small town. Recently we decided to expand my business by opening a new spa and salon! I have been a licensed beautician for 10 years with specialized training in facials, waxing, eye lash lift and tint, dermaplaning, and chemical peels.

Cherry County 2022 Primary Election results

May 10, 2022 Cherry County Primary Election results are as follows: Statistics Cherry County has 3,768 registered voters, of them, 3,030 are of the Republican Party, 369 are of the Democratic Party, 27 from the Libertarian Party, and 341 who are non partisan. There is one registered voter of the Legal Marijuana NOW party.

Drive thru Mobile Food Pantry coming to Valentine May 24, 2022

The Community Services Program at Northwest Community Action Partnership (NCAP) will sponsor a Drive Thru Mobile Food Pantry with the Food Bank of the Heartland on May 24, 2022 at the Cherry County Fairgrounds located at 120 S. Green Street in Valentine from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Students earn honor cords from MPCC Mid-Plains Community College will award 339 blue and gold honor cords to area high school seniors to wear at their graduation ceremonies this spring. The cords are used to recognize students who have taken the initiative to pursue college credit while still in high school.
