IN VALENTINE project is ahead of schedule!

Work continues ahead of schedule. An update on Utilities and concrete surfacing work for the IN VALENTINE projects: The Current Controlling Operation (CCO) has changed to Storm Sewer placement.

Summer lunches for youth to be provided by Valentine Community Schools

As part of its efforts to ensure kids have access to healthy meals during the summer months, Valentine Community Schools is pleased to announce its summer meals site will be serving kids and teens. Starting on May 23, all kids and teens 18 and under can receive lunches free of charge.

American Christian rock band coming to Valentine

Coming to Valentine, May 25 at the Cherry County Fairgrounds, is American Christian rock band, Seventh Day Slumber. This charttopping band has modern hardhitting lyrics and sound. Lead singer, Joseph Rojas, shares a personal testimony and a message of hope. On their way from Dallas, TX to open the West Coast leg of their tour, they will be here in Valentine to put on a great show. The Recovery Tour is a family-friendly event. Admission is free, with a love offering available. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. but come early if you would like to get in on walking tacos, a free-will-donation meal! Serving begins at 5:00 p.m. until the show starts at 6:30 p.m. or the walking tacos run out. You don’t want to miss this!

Our Savior Lutheran Church to host VBS

Our Savior Lutheran Church is excited to bring the Semisaurus Mobile Museum to the Cherry County Fairgrounds! This will be FREE for the community on May 31 and June 1 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Farm and ranch financial clinics to be held

These clinics are for farmers and ranchers and their families. They are confidential, one-onone sessions with an experienced Ag Law attorney and Ag finance counselor. These clinics have been offered in Nebraska since 1989. In a roughly hour-long session, you are welcome to bring up whatever issues might be affecting your farm or ranch. In general, clinic discussions often involve estate and succession planning, financial and operational issues, beginning farmer programs, real estate and lease matters, fence law, property rights, farm loans and loan programs, and debtor/creditor law. Here is an opportunity to obtain an experienced outside opinion on issues that may be affecting your farm or ranch. Bring your questions!

CSC holds graduation Two hundred eighteen Chadron State College undergraduates received bachelor’s degrees and 65 graduate students received master’s degrees in a combined ceremony in the Chicoine Center on Saturday, May 7. Area students include: Eva Oliver, Bachelor of Applied Science of Merriman; Amos Utecht, Bachelor of Arts, Kara Brashears, BS in Education, Chad McPeak, Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Science, Grace Robison, Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Science all of Valentine.

29th Annual Nebraska Rod and Custom Association 500-mile Tour Nebraska to be held in June

The 29th annual Nebraska Rod and Custom Association (NRCA) 500-mile Tour Nebraska driving event will be held on June 4 and 5 this year. This is a road TOUR of 450+ classic, antique and special interest vehicles. This unique driving event will draw considerable local interest. The Tour Route this year will go near 19 towns and villages including some which may be in your coverage area. There are many car shows and car events during the summer season, however there is no other event like Tour Nebraska.
