LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Nebraska agriculture officials say 570,000 broiler chickens will be slaughtered after bird flu was confirmed in the flock.

GRAND ISLE, Neb. (AP) _ Law enforcement authorities on Saturday rescued a 60-year-old man who had been taken hostage by an escaped inmate, capturing the inmate and peacefully ending a standoff at an apartment which lasted hours, police said.

Billings, Mont.- Cattle producers have raised questions about the details included in the compromised Cattle Price Discovery and Transparency Act of 2021 (S.3229), known as the Fischer-Grassley compromise bill. Erie, PA (March 22, 2022)—In a sure sign that spring is not far behind, the first Purple Martins of the year have been spotted in Nebraska. The birds were seen on March 20 in the city of McCook, by a Purple Martin enthusiast – one of many throughout the eastern and central United States who track and report on the birds’ annual migration on behalf of the Purple Martin Conservation Association.

On 03/13/2022 at 1:37 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of West Highway 20 for a report of a stolen pickup. The pickup was recovered by the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office. A 25 year old South Dakota male was found to be in possession of the pickup. An arrest was made.

Reported Offenses: On 03/14/2022 a disturbance was reported in the 800 block of West Highway 20. No action was taken.

MARCH 22, 2022 (SCOTTS-BLUFF, NEB.) — Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a Gering man following an investigation into firearms stolen from the Minatare Police Department. Tuesday afternoon, investigators arrested Bryan Martinez, 32, at his residence in Gering.
