Judge blocks BNSF’s 2 biggest unions from going on strike

OMAHA,(AP)-A federal judge has extended an order preventing the two largest unions at BNSF from going on strike over a new attendance policy the railroad imposed this month. The judge ruled that a strike by the unions that represent 17,000 BNSF workers would violate federal law because the issue is a minor dispute under their contracts.

Heart on the hill

Decades ago it was planned that Valentine should have a red lighted heart on the hill overlooking the park. Someone thoughtfully realized that if it was positioned just so, the town folks could have visual access to the heart from Main Street as they descent into the park. What a great idea for the Heart City of the Sandhills to have their very own oversized heart!!

Grant to provide communities with speakers sharing unique perspectives on history
