Make It to the Table This Thanksgiving: Buckle Up. Every Trip. Every Time.

Kansas City, MO - This Thanksgiving holiday, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is joining the State Highway Safety Offices in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska to share an important lifesaving reminder: Buckle Up — Every Trip. Every Time. Because the Thanksgiving holiday is one of the busiest for America, more drivers will be on the roads than usual, increasing the likelihood of a motor vehicle crash. During this kickoff to the holiday season, it’s more important than ever to stress the importance of seat belt safety.

From shame to joy

Several years ago my husband came in contact with something that gave him a serious skin infection on his neck. He noticed it first on Saturday as he began to have flu like symptoms driving home from our weekend in the mountains. On Sunday the swelling continued up from his chin and neck area; and it eventually became significant by Sunday night. We went to the ER down the road. Not a lot was said by the two doctors who examined him carefully. But one was so kind he gave us his personal cell number. (Only later did I realize how concerned he was.) Doctors eventually put him in the hospital on Wednesday with IV medication for 24 hours. There was concern the swelling and infection could go to his brain. All was well after the hospital medication and a couple of his favorite smoothies!
