Bataganza at Fort Niobrara NWR

Valentine – Come learn about the creatures that hunt the night, and then how the stars and night skies are important to them. Stay after dark to learn about the night skies. Niobrara National Scenic River is happy to announce a special event hosted with our partner, Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge, normally closed after dark. On August 26, Bataganza will start at 8:00 p.m. CST and Night Sky program will follow.

Nebraska ranks seventh on the list of states impacted by natural disasters

With the deadliest U.S. wildfires ever estimated to have caused $5.5 billion in damage and claimed over 100 lives in Hawaii, with the damage and death tolls growing, the personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on the States Most Impacted by Natural Disasters.

VPD reported offenses, citations, and arrests, August 6-12

Incidents/Arrests On 08/06/2023 at 9:28 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of North Thatcher Street regarding a disturbance. An 18 year old South Dakota woman was cited in regards to this incident.

New prison location announced

LINCOLN – Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen joined Director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) Rob Jeffreys in announcing the location of the state’s new 1,512-bed facility. The 305-acre property is located northeast of Lincoln near 112th and Adams.
