Daniel Martinez, guitar virtuoso, had a busy week visiting the schools and other stops around town. Daniel is originally from Iquitos, Peru. He moved to the United States in 2002 and started to take his music seriously. Daniel has performed across the U.S., Canada, and in South America. He is a guitar professor at Nebraska Wesleyan University and Union College, and plays all musical styles, but his specialties are Latin rhythms such as Flamenco, Rumba, Bossa Nova, Jazz, Bolero, Bachata, and more.

InAugust2025MountHopeCemetery was awarded 15 trees, through the Trees for Nebraska Towns Fall Tree Grant. Plantings, with the help of the Mount Hope Cemetery Board, Harmony Cemetery Board and Middle Niobrara NRD, took place on October 10 at Mount Hope and Harmony cemeteries.

Every year since 1992, wreaths have been placed on veteran graves around the world on the second or third Saturday in December to honor those veterans by the Wreaths Across America organization. Sponsorships are provided by family, friends, businesses, and community members to honor these veterans.

Each November, millions of people recognize the service and sacrifice of military veterans on Veterans Day. Initially commemorated as Armistice Day but renamed Veterans Day in the United States in 1954, the holiday is a federal holiday throughout the country.

The Sandhills Task Force is now accepting applications for the 2026 season of Sandhills Ranch Internships. This paid, three-month summer-long internship includes room and partial board as well as additional paid educational opportunities. It was a chilly Halloween, but the town was alive and hopping with sugar-fueled fun. A warming station was set up at the Methodist Church basement and filled many goblins young and old with warm apple cider and treats, paying homage to the memories of Eva Nollette’s years of cider and hugs.
