Coach says CSC football practice off to strong start

Football practice at Chadron State College has gotten off to a strong start, Head Coach Jay Long said after the Eagles had completed their first week of practices. They are allowed 21 sessions before the season kicks off.

AAU Junior Olympics swim results

The swimming results for the AAU Junior Olympics held in Des Moines, IA July 30 - August 2 are as follows: Addy Valen - 9 and under girls - 8th 200 m Freestyle, 9th 50 m Freestyle, 10th 50 m Butterfly, 11th 50 m Freestyle and 100 m Freestyle, 12th 100 m Backstroke, and 16th 50 m Backstroke.

12U ends season with third place win!

The 12U baseball team traveled to Burke June 29-July 1, 2026 and went 2-1. They won the first round against Winner Gold in a come from behind win in the 5th inning, winning 7-6. The second game was against Lyman but the team couldn’t outscore the Raiders in the 6th and lost by a score of 10-12.

10U Baseball ends season with 9-3

The 10U Baseball team traveled to Gregory July 6-8, 2026 for the end of the season Rosebud Minors tournament. Their first game was a 9-4 victory overtheLymanRaiders,semifinals was 7-4 win over Gregory Red and put them in the championship facing Winner Purple.

Rare lake sturgeon made 681-mile swim

Fisheries biologists for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission were collecting paddlefish for a study this spring when a large and rare fish for Nebraska showed up in the net. A 70-pound lake sturgeon was pulled from the Missouri River at Gavins Point Dam on April 14.
