Valentine Community Schools is excited to announce Ashley McSweeney as Co-Head Girls Golf Coach for 2025-2026. Coach McSweeney steps into the role after the retirement of long time coach, Devin Muirhead.

There are more than a million acres of publicly accessible lands throughout Nebraska. The recently published 2025-2026 Public Access Atlas identifies and consolidates these public access resources for the benefit of Nebraska’s hunters, and anglers.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission earned 10 awards at the Association for Conservation Information annual conference July 21-24 in Atlantic City, N.J. The awards recognized excellence in outreach, education and communications for the prior year.

The Valentine Post 90 Junior Legion season came to an end on July 15, with a loss to Dannebrog- Cairo-Boelus in the C-7 Area Tournament Championship game. The outgoing group of juniors reached the area final three seasons in a row and were the first Post 90 Junior Legion team to qualify for state in 2023. The season ended with a 10-5 record. The juniors also wontheO’NeillMemorialWeekend tournament with wins over two Class B opponents in O’Neill and Columbus Lakeview.

Valentine hosted the C-7 Senior Legion Area Tournament at Legion Field from July 25-29. Post 90 Seniors were crowned district champions, defeating Sheridan County, Atkinson and Hi-Line.

GNST includes teams from Kearney, North Platte, McCook, and Valentine. This includes all of Western Nebraska which allows them all to compete with the bigger teams.

The qualification to compete at the National High School Rodeo Finals is to be in the top 4 standings with your overall season score. Season standings and National Qualifiers of local contestants: • Cash Cooper - first place Boys Cutting, 201.5 points; National Qualifier.
