Search for SAF Youth Advisory Board Member gets underway

Sandhills Area Foundation (SAF) is committed to supporting area youth who are exploring ways they can make an impact in their communities as active citizens. We are searching for inspiring leaders from Cherry County to support SAF in our mission to financially support area development and to accept and administer funds that meet the present and future needs of Cherry County residents. Game and Parks wins 10 awards at annual ACI conference

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission earned 10 awards at the Association for Conservation Information annual conference July 21-24 in Atlantic City, N.J. The awards recognized excellence in outreach, education and communications for the prior year.

Junior Legion’s season ends with promising averages

The Valentine Post 90 Junior Legion season came to an end on July 15, with a loss to Dannebrog- Cairo-Boelus in the C-7 Area Tournament Championship game. The outgoing group of juniors reached the area final three seasons in a row and were the first Post 90 Junior Legion team to qualify for state in 2023. The season ended with a 10-5 record. The juniors also wontheO’NeillMemorialWeekend tournament with wins over two Class B opponents in O’Neill and Columbus Lakeview.

Senior team are District Champs!

Valentine hosted the C-7 Senior Legion Area Tournament at Legion Field from July 25-29. Post 90 Seniors were crowned district champions, defeating Sheridan County, Atkinson and Hi-Line.

GNST SwimTeam

GNST includes teams from Kearney, North Platte, McCook, and Valentine. This includes all of Western Nebraska which allows them all to compete with the bigger teams.
