American Legion Post 90s busy week

The Valentine American Legion Post 90 Baseball team was very busy this last week. On Monday, June 16, the Seniors went up against the PVC Chadron Post 12 Seniors and lost 4-12. The next night, the evening started out with a win from the Juniors against the Tri-County Titan Juniors, 10-2. The Seniors were scheduled to play after, but because of the storm, the game was canceled. Wednesday the 18th, both the Juniors and Seniors played against the Winner/Colome Legion team. The Juniors lost 7-23 and the Seniors lost 0-13.

Roseberry competes in Battle of the Border

Cody-Kilgore graduate Jasper Roseberry proudly represented the Cowboys in the 14th annual Battle of the Border, where Nebraska rolled past Wyoming with a decisive 68-28 victory. Roseberry was one of 18 standout athletes selected from high schools across Nebraska to compete in the annual all-star football game, which showcases top talent from both states.

Boys Golf season ends May 19

Badger Golf played at Ogallala, Monday May 19, 2025, in district play. Coach Devin Muirhead said, “The boys played well in 30mph windy conditions.

Salters is 2X NAIA All-American

Valentine High School graduate, Isabelle Salters, competed at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Marion, IN May 22-23, 2025. Isabelle has been a member of the Concordia University Track team the last four years and finished her collegiate track career competing on the women’s 4x400 relay.

Sandhills Area Foundation announces 2025 scholarship recipients

The Sandhills Area Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its 2025 scholarship awards. This year, the Foundation awarded over $45,000 in scholarships to outstanding students from Cherry County, continuing their longstanding commitment to supporting local education and opportunity.

Freshman duo punch tickets for NSAA State Track

Cody-Kilgore freshmen Aubryanna Schmit and Lilly Ravenscroft continued their season-long success by qualifying for the NSAA State Track and Field during the D2-8 district meet in Sutherland, NE. Schmit qualified in both shot put and discus by winning each event.

Lady Badgers are District Champs!!!

Coach Blake Beebout said, “Our coaches are very proud of our track athletes’ performance at Districts. Our girls team was the District Champion, and I can’t remember the last time that has occurred. Our boys team finished third, 8 points out of first. It was a fantastic day for our Track Program. We are excited to watch our State Qualifiers compete at State Track next week, as we are also proud of our seniors, and excited for our underclassmen returning next year.”
