Badgers play in the Southwest Conference

The Badger Boys Basketball team played a tough match-up against Broken Bow on Monday, January 22, 2024 as a play-in game for the Southwest Conference Tournament. The Badgers traveled to Ogallala, whose team was ranked #1 in the conference. The Badgers played a tough first half, but Ogallala Indians weren’t backing down and got the W with a score of 77-50.

Badger Boys go 2-0 and Lady Badgers 1-1

On Tuesday, January 9, 2024 the Badger Varsity Basketball teams took on the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys/ Cowgirls. The Lady Badgers jumped out to an early 11-3 in the first quarter, and by half, the lead was 24-3. The Badgers never looked back, only letting the Cowgirls score 5 points in the second half for an ending score of 47-8. Eight Lady Badgers got in the books, with Kinsey Buechle leading the team with 10 points, seven rebounds, four steals, one assist, and one block. Alivia Patterson was right behind her with 9 points, 5 for six from the free throw line, four rebounds, and three steals. The Badgers led with 30 rebounds, nine assists, 26 steals, and one block. They were 42 percent from the field, 15 percent behind the arch, and 55 percent from the charity stripe.

InternNE, powered by Aksarben, addresses Nebraska’s brain drain crisis

Omaha, January 12, 2024 – In a groundbreaking collaboration between the Aksarben Foundation and the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, InternNE, Powered by Aksarben, was launched in October 2023 to combat Nebraska’s alarming “brain drain” trend. This initiative aims to create opportunities for college graduates, high school students, and nontraditional learners, ultimately strengthening Nebraska’s workforce and retaining young talent in the state.

Badgers place seventh at Chadron Duals

The Valentine Badgers traveled to Chadron for wrestling duals January 19-20, 2024 and earned seventh place in duals, and in the tournament. Individual results are as follows: Match #1 Round 1 Mead defeated Valentine 44-28 106 - Trey Tatham of Mead, over Deklin Titus of Valentine, Dec 6-5.

Honor Bands and Choirs selected for 2024

Seven students from the VHS Music Department have been accepted into the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Music Festival. The UNK Music Festival consists of two bands and three choirs. Students had to audition and be accepted into the festival bands and choirs.

2023 Winnebago Lady Indian Invite Results for Valentine

Friday, December 29, 2023, the Lady Badger wrestling team traveled to Winnebago, to participate in their invite. Results are as follows: 125 - Ariana Blume (15-5) placed 5th and scored 15.0 team points.
