Legion Post 90 Seniors finished 11-11

Post 90 Seniors finished 11-11 overall. They were the Chadron Wood Bat Champs and C-7 Area District Runner-Up to Imperial.

EducationQuest awards $840,000 in grant funding including Valentine

Lincoln - EducationQuest Foundation announced that 27 Nebraska high schools have been awarded $840,000 in College Access Grant funding over the next four years to help develop and enhance programs designed to increase the number of students who go to college, including Valentine.

Cherry County Fair Shooting Sports results

The 2024 Cherry County 4-H Shooting Sports Competition was held August 2-3, at the Cherry County Fairgrounds. Coaches this year were Mike Murphy for Trap, Jason McNare for Rifle. Archery coaches were Adam Naslund, Timber Burge, and Chad Christensen.

Valentine Red Minors place fourth

The Valentine Red Minors Baseball Team, comprised of boys 10 years old and younger as of January 1, competed in the Rosebud Little League Minors Tournament in Gregory, SD, July 12-14, 2024, bringing home fourth place honors. One game per night. Five innings per game. The ten-team bracket and their seedings were: Winner Purple-first, Lyman-second, Gregory 2-third, Valentine Red-fourth, Winner Gold-fifth, Valentine White-sixth, Gregory 1-seventh, Burke-eighth, Clearfieldninth and Ainsworth-tenth.

Valentine Majors place third

The Valentine Majors Baseball Team, comprised of boys 12 years old and younger as of January 1, competed in the Rosebud Little League Majors Tournament in Burke, SD, July 7-9, 2024, bringing home third place honors. One game per night. Six innings per game. The seven-team bracket and their seedings were: Clearfieldfirst, Lyman-second, Burke-third, Valentine-fourth, Winner-fifth, Gregory-sixth and Ainsworthseventh.

Valentine Rookie team finishes in second

The Valentine Rookie 8-U team wrapped up their season with a 7-4 record and a second place finish at the Rosebud League Tournament in Winner, SD. The tournament started with a bang as Valentine played Lyman.

Nebraska High School Rodeo Finalists 2024

The Nebraska State High School Rodeo Finals were held June 12-15, 2024. The top four athletes in each event will attend the National High school Finals Rodeo July 14-20, in Rock Springs, WY.

Results of the 32nd annual Cherry County Hospital Foundation Golf Tourney

The 32nd annual Cherry County Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament, held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Frederick Peak Golf Club, raised $19,439.00. The proceeds will go toward purchasing new and improved eye equipment for Cherry County Hospital. Vision is everything and Cherry County Hospital’s ophthalmologists specialize in treating patients with eye diseases and disorders like cataracts, macular degeneration, and retinal problems. The implementation of new equipment for detection, diagnosis, and treatment, will ensure comprehensive care is provided close to home.

8U Rookies Runner-Up

The Valentine 8U Rookies team ended their 2024 season with a 7-4 record and a second place finish in the 16th annual Bob Haley Memorial Rookies Classic in Winner, SD June 29 - 30. The Rookies beat Lyman on Saturday with a score of 1-0 with a walk off double by Kade Arganbright bringing in Beckett Walking to score the one run for Valentine.
