Cody Kilgore wins over Crawford

The Cowboys traveled to take on the Crawford Rams, Friday, September 29, 2023, and won with a shut-out, 44-0. Jasper Roseberry led with 17 carries for 110 yards; Jacob Knox has 12 carries for 64 yards; Dominic Fresquez had 7 carries for 36 yards; Brady Skinner, 3 for 14; Tristan Fish, 3; and Drew Farrell, 2 for 3.

The Boys XC team earned second place at West Holt

The Badger Cross Country team traveled to Kearney, Monday, September 25, 2023. Individual women’s results in the 5,000 Meter Class D are as follows: 49th place, Christen Larson, 24:17.70; 115th place, Paige Sprenger, 27:10.40; 142nd place, Lexi Long, 29:04.00; 160th place, Samantha Sprenger, 30:20.12.

2023 Cherry County 4-H Premier Exhibitor Award

The Premier Livestock Exhibitor is Kaden McNare, son of Jason and Michelle McNare of Cody. He won a belt buckle donated by the Bowlin family. This award is designed to recognize and honor 4-H members that show a dedication to the agricultural industry.

2023 Cherry County 4-H Bucket Calf Show

Bucket Calf Champion, Ava Rahn; Reserve Champion, Katie Schumacher; Purples, Boe Tetherow, Ira Swendener. Clover Kid Bucket Calves Travis Froning, Kamen Garwood, Jake Kime, Grace Luthy, Audrey Nollette, Weston Rahn, Rebecca Schumacher, Tyler Bachelor, Zander Barnes, Harper Barnes.

Results from State 4-H shooting sports

Three Cherry County youth competed in the State 4-H Outdoor Archery Championships September 16-17 in Grand Island. Mason Hamilton received sixth in the Cub 3-D Freestyle class and eighth in targets.

Five CSC entries place high at their rodeo

Led by saddle bronc riding winner Jack Skavdahl of Harrison, five Chadron State College contestants placed among the top six in their events at the CSC rodeo over the weekend of September 16. Skavdahl won the long go-round of the bronc riding with 80 points and was second during Sunday’s finals with 78 points to win the championship.

4-H Quilts of Valor

Twenty-five Quilts of Valor were awarded to veterans during the 2023 Cherry County Fair, bringing the total amount awarded by Cherry County residents to over 100! Several of these special heroes were in attendance at the ceremony, some traveling from as far as Florida! 2023 Cherry County 4-H Fashion Show & Textile Projects results

The Cherry County 4-H Clothing Day and Fashion Show was judged on July 13. The Judges were Celeste Rogers and Pam Bauer. The Fashion Show and Quilts of Valor Ceremony was held August 8 at the Cherry County Fairgrounds.

Badger XC team places second at Gordon-Rushville Invite

Valentine Cross Country is off to a great start. This year the teams competed at the Valentine, Ainsworth, Broken Bow, and O’Neill Cross Country meets. On Thursday, September 21, Valentine went to Rushville for the Gordon-Rushville Invitational. All runners had either a season best time or a career personal best.
