Hanson selected for Cornhuskers Girls State

Kaylee Hanson of Valentine, has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Conrhusker Girls State, June 4-10, 2023, on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Hanson was selected by American Legion Auxiliary, Wood Lake 202.

Tractor and farm equipment safety course now open for registration

Teens 14 or 15 years of age who work on farms, or others who are interested in learning about tractor and farm equipment safety practices, can register for a safety training course offered at seven locations across Nebraska from May 22 through June 8.

Gear Up For Summer!

School is almost out, and many families are wondering what is available for kids and families to do this summer. The Niobrara Council along with UNL Extension have partnered with the Valentine Public Library and the Niobrara Scenic River to host an open house event; a one-stop shop where families can come learn about what programs and activities are happening in the Valentine area this summer.

Niobrara Council elects officers and does annual housekeeping

The Niobrara Council met for their regular meeting, February 16, 2023 at the Peppermill Restaurant in Valentine. The meeting was called to order at 1:31 p.m. with the following in attendance: Jason Appelt, Lana Arrowsmith, Karl Connell, Dallas Dodson, Les Hall, Wade Hollenbeck, Mike Murphy, Buddy Small, Andrew Steinhauser, Mike Tuerk, Scott Wessel.

Sandhills Cattle Association to hold

program is off again for a second year! This program is directed to the youth of the Sandhills for nutritious lunches and education about how beef gets from the pasture to your plate! The donated calves will be penned with the other calves during the Educational, Performance, and Carcass Contest. The ranchers that donated will receive the calf's data during and after the contest.

Nebraska Missing Children’s Day poster contest winner

Lincoln – Each year, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office invites fifth graders from across the state to participate in the Nebraska Missing Children’s Day poster contest. The posters are intended to raise awareness of missing children and remind parents, guardians, and caregivers to make the safety of their children a priority.
