The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved grant awards for the Land and Water Conservation Fund Stateside Assistance Program and the Recreational Trails Program at its meeting January 20, 2023 in Lincoln.

Seven students from the VHS Music Department have been accepted into the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Music Festival. The festival consists of two bands and three choirs. Students had to audition for and be accepted into the festival bands and choirs.

KEARNEY – Students from 92 high schools in Nebraska will participate in the annual Honor Band and Choral Clinic hosted by the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Department of Music, Theatre and Dance.

The Valentine Badgers traveled to Cody-Kilgore, Tuesday, January 10, 2023, where they took on the Cowboys and won with a score of 73-23. Andon Olson was the lead scorer with 24 followed by Lex Larsen and Anthony Gillette each with 9, Caden Stankoski and Nathan Perrett each had 8, Isaac Cronin had 7, Seth Vavra and Jack Lancaster each had 4.

The Cowboys hosted the Valentine Badgers Tuesday, January 10, 2023 and lost with a score of 73-23. Thursday, January 12, the Cowboys won over Hay Springs with a score of 46-44.

Tuesday, January 10, 2023, the Lady Badgers traveled to Cody-Kilgore where they won over the Cowgirls with a score of 55-19. Scoring by quarters: Valentine - 22, 19, 12, 2 = 55 Cody-Kilgore - 4, 9, 3, 3 = 19 Tacey From led in scoring with 23, followed by Jayda From and Kinsey Buechle each with 11, Malika Monroe, Kaetryn Bancroft added 3 each, Olena Felton and Sam Sprenger each added 2.

Helping law enforcement eliminate poaching in Nebraska just got a little easier, thanks to a new program by Nebraska Game and Parks. The new online reporting tool allows people to anonymously report suspected wildlife violations through a form at OutdoorNebraska.

106 - Louden Grooms (6-6) placed 3rd and scored 15.0 team points. Quarterfinal - Louden Grooms (Valentine) 6-6 won by fall over Wyatt Fowler (North Central) 6-13, Fall 0:20.
