“Extremely short-handed, the Badgers found a way to get a win last Thursday. I knew it would be near impossible to beat Broken Bow with so many guys out, I also knew it would require a great performance to beat Gothenburg... we were able to pull it off,” said Coach Shane Allison. “The Badgers only dropped two contested matches in each dual. The Gothenburg dual came down to the wire, with Logan Mayhew and Lee Major getting pins to win the dual for the Badgers. Winning that dual kept our hopes of the state duals alive. The way the point system is set up, we would not have qualified for state duals with a loss to Gothenburg. Now we have a chance. The Badgers are ranked #2 in the state as a dual team. With our schedule there is no room for error. Next week will tell us a lot more.”

The Badgers hosted the Hershey Panthers, Friday, January 14, 2022 and lost with a score of 38-46. The next day, Saturday, January 15, they hosted the Ogallala Indians and lost with a score of 29-73.

Eight students participated at Winter Nationals in Omaha the weekend of January 8, 2022. Earning third place was Wrigley Greenough; fourth place, Parker Chavez; and sixth place, Deklin Titus.

Nathan Perrett, Junior, Basketball Nathan Perrett did a great job Tuesday at Cody. Nate had 3 deflections, 3 steals, 13 rebounds, 1 assist and 22 points.

The Badgers traveled to Cody, Tuesday, January 11, where they took on the Cowboys. The Badgers won with a score of 54-41.

The Lady Badgers traveled to Cody, Tuesday, January 11, where they played the Cowgirls and won with a score of 55-19. Scoring by quarters: Valentine - 24, 9, 12, 10 = 55 Cody-Kilgore - 2, 5, 3, 9 = 19 Lead scorer for the Lady Badgers was Kinsey Buechle with 23; Tacey From, 14; Jada From, 7; Kailee Kellum, 6; Fayth From, 3; and Malika Monroe, 2.

Friday, January 7, 2022, the Lady Badgers hosted the Lady Mustangs and won with a score of 54-43. Scoring by quarters: Valentine - 6, 17, 12, 19 = 54 Gordon-Rushville - 13, 9, 13, 8 = 43 Lead scorer and Max Preps Player of the Game was Kailee Kellum with 21 points.
