The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign has raised $4,554 as of December 13, 2021. The goal is $7,000 so your help is greatly needed. Ninety percent of the money raised stays in Cherry County to help families with emergency needs.

The Valentine City council met Thursday, December 9, 2021, in the Library Meeting Room. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. with the following in attendance: City Clerk Deanna Schmit, City Manager Shane Siewert, Council members Kyle Arganbright, Kalli Kieborz, Neil Wescott, Dave Dent, and Ross Brockley.

The Badgers hosted O’Neill Thursday, December 2, 2021, and lost with a score of 32-71. Scoring by quarters: Valentine - 7, 16, 5, 4 = 32 O’Neill - 23, 15, 21, 12 = 71 Stats haven’t been entered as of press time.

Coach Shane Allison said, “The Badgers opened up their season last Saturday, December 4, 2021, by winning the O’Neill Invite over four other ranked teams. The tournament was much tougher this year than it has been in the past. We won this tournament with our depth. I think we performed pretty well considering we missed so many practices due to the shut down. We definitely left some points out there. We can definitely improve on this performance.

The children at St. Mary’s are gearing up for Christmas with a special project to help children in need through the Boxes of Joy Program. This year religious education students, kindergarten through ninth grade filled 25 boxes on November 3.
