    A look back at September

We wave good bye to September as October makes her cozy appearance. But what did September bring us?? RAIN! And it was abundant with a total of nearly five inches! According to NOAA, 4.68 inches fell at Miller Field in Valentine.

    HOMECOMING

“Our kids really went out and competed. We have been hit by the injury bug which means guys have been moving around all over the place and playing different positions. We did a great job of overcoming adversity in the first half but made too many crucial mental mistakes in the second half which cost us field position and led to a tough third quarter. Overall we are proud of how our guys are competing even through tough times,” said Coach Ian Bish.

    Lady Badgers take second place

Valentine hosted West Holt, O’Neill, Ainsworth and Mullen, Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Valentine took second as a team with a 398. We placed three girls in the top 10: Tierney Miller took second with 94, Joni Cox took sixth with 99, and Rylee Wackler took eighth with 100. Sam Sprenger, Kassie Hanson and Grace Murphy were not far out of placing.

    12U team competes in Bassett

The Valentine 2 12U team traveled to Bassett to play the North Central Knights. The Badgers got the victory with a score of 28-6. Touchdowns were scored, tackles were made, but most of all lessons were learned! They are off September 21, but will be in action at home on September 28, October 5, and October 12. Go Badgers.

    XC results from O’Neill

O’Neill moving their cross country meet to the morning seemed to benefit our athletes greatly as everyone on the team managed to run individual season records! In the first race of the day our high school girls team all made significant cuts to their times with Taylie Fletcher running a 22:32 5k, placing 10th in varsity; Kealy Titus running 22:45, placing 13th in varsity; and Mariana Azarcoya running 24:56, placing first in JV. As of right now, Taylie and Kealy have earned places amongst the top five girl 5k runners at Valentine High School but they will continue to try to cut down those times further.
