Hoi (Hello), from Switzerland! I have had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the country’s dairy industry after moving to my third host family that live in yet a different canton of Switzerland ~ Zurich. Brown Swiss cattle are the breed of choice on this Swiss dairy, allowing me to experience a hands on and unique approach to this country’s dairy industry.

Brandi Daugherty Three Valentine Middle School athletes took on a new challenge Sunday, August 23, 2026, competing in their first triathlon and finishing fourth overall at the inaugural Kheya Ki Triathlon in Rosebud. Brothers Wade Daugherty, 13, and Duke Daugherty, 11, teamed up with their friend River Ruby, 11, to form a three-person team called Three Little Legends.

The Valentine seventh and eighth grade football team traveled to O’Neill on Thursday, September 10, 2026 for their first game of the season. The team battled in the first half and held the Eagles scoreless.

Under the September sky, community members gathered Saturday at Third and Main Street in Valentine to celebrate more than a new mural. They gathered to celebrate the people, stories, heritage and connections that make Valentine and Cherry County a special place to call home.

“Wherewereyouwhentheworld stopped turnin’ that September day?” Twenty-five years have passed since that September morning when the world changed forever. Under a clear blue Nebraska sky, members of the Cherry County community gathered at the Valentine Fire Department on Hall Street to remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the first responders, military members, and countless others whose lives were forever changed by the attacks.
