The Community Services Program at Northwest Community Action Partnership (NCAP) is searching for volunteers to help run the Valentine Extra Helpings food pantry. The Extra Helpings Food Pantry serves approximately 80 individuals monthly and distributes about 18,974 pounds of food annually. The Valentine Extra Helpings food pantry promotes client choice; that way, the clients can shop and get the food they like instead of being given a bag. The Food Pantry is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

As we look to ways to improve our environment inside and out, the Poison Center encourages you to check your cabinets, cupboards, and bags to find any expired, unwanted, or unused medications. Timely disposal of prescription and over the counter medicines can reduce the risk of others taking the medications accidentally or misusing the medications. Keep your medications in their original containers, locked up, and stored out of sight. Call your local poison center for more information about medication safety.
