Donald Eugene (Gene) Belsky, age 94, was born June 9, 1930, to Guy Alfred and Dorothy Wilma (Young) Belsky, 10 miles south of Merriman, NE. He passed away peacefully May 12, 2025, at the Countryside Care in Gordon, NE. He joined his big brother Robert, who was born in 1928, and Lois joined them in 1932.

Gene graduated from Cody High School in 1947. After graduation he ventured in to a few things before entering the U.S. Army, serving in Korea from 1951 to 1953, later receiving the Korean Government Medal of Ambassador for Peace.

On October 2, 1965 he married the love of his life, Anna Marie Dohse. They raised three caring children. Monty Alan, MeLisa Dawn, and Timothy Don.

Over his lifetime he found joy in many things. Gene was a member of the American Legion for 70 years, Master Mason for 67 years, 50 years of service with the Nebraska Bankers with service to Anchor Bank in Merriman/Cody, Bank of Cody, Gordon State Bank/Community First, Stockman Bank/Security First Banks of Rushville. He spent his last 17 years in banking as an Ag Loan Inspector. Being an Ag Loan Inspector was one of the more rewarding aspects of banking and it was where Gene felt like he was family. Gene received a plaque for 50 years of banking from Nebraska Bankers Association in 2012 when retiring. He also was a member of the Merriman Volunteer Fire Department and Cody Volunteer Fire Department. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Belsky, stepmother La Verle, mother Wilma (Young) Colvin, stepfather Bert Colvin; brother, Robert in 1971; sister, Lois Gaskins in 2025; grandparents, Thomas and Christina (Sedivy) Belsky, and Samuel and Oda ( White) Young. Left celebrating his life is his wife of 59 years, Anna Marie; children Monty, partner Virginia, Lisa, Tim wife Misty; and grandchildren, Trenton, Amanda, Tashina, Taran, Trystan, Landon, Logan, Jacobie, CaeLyn, and Shyanne; 17 great grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Josslyn, Jaxton, Rozlynn, Wyatt, Brynlee, Madaline, Rylie, Sevryn, Remington, Oaklee, Miles, Titan, Raelin, Harper, and Cash. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on June 14, 2025, at the Gordon American Legion, and graveside service with Military honors to follow at the Gordon Cemetery.
