Ivan R. Phillips was born May 8, 1949inAlliance,NE. Hegrewupand spent most of his life working with horses and cattle. What he lacked in formal education he more than made up for in common sense and hard work. He learned how to ride, drive, or operate anything; always willing to give something new a try. The last half of his life was spent operating the family’s homestead north of Whitman, NE.

Legacy Broadcaster, James Richard Lambley, age 74, passed away at the Gordon Memorial Hospital in Gordon, NE on April 17, 2025 surrounded by family. Jim was born March 20, 1951 in Ainsworth, NE to June and Getha (Hollingsworth) Lambley.

Garnet Sargent, 98

Garnet Sargent, 98, of Winner, SD passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Winner Regional Long Term Care Facility in Winner, SD. Funeral service were held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winner Methodist Church in Winner, SD. Burial followed in the Winner City Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to funeral service.

Linda (Murray) Quick, age 72 of Crookston, NE, passed away peacefully at her home January 9, 2025. Graveside services and inurnment will be held at the Crookston Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025, Linda’s birthday.

Joseph William Gilbuena was born December 13, 1944, in Richmond, VA, to Joe Gomez Gilbuena and Marjorie Louise (Gould). He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 25, 2025, in Norfolk, NE.

Jonita M. Sears Hain, 83

Jonita Marie (Sears) Hain was born February 27, 1942 in Valentine, NE to loving parents Joe and Helen Sears. She grew up on the Sears cattle ranch just outside of Valentine, where she and her seven siblings worked outdoors on the ranch as well as indoors helping her mother with daily living chores. Jonita attended high school in Curtis, NE with a couple of her sisters. She moved to Boulder, CO shortly after high school where she attended The University of Colorado. Jonita moved back to Valentine and began working at the Bank of Valentine. In 1965, while working at the bank, she met her husband, Larry Hain, who was traveling from Omaha on business. It was “love at first sight!” Jonita said to herself, “I’m going to marry that man.”

Richard “Dick” Whipple, 84

Richard “Dick” Whipple was born October 26, 1940 in Rosebud, SD to Alex “Bob” Whipple and Carrie (Coleman) Whipple who both preceded him in death. He was the youngest of five siblings.

Nolda, 65, of Lincoln, NE, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at Country House in Kearney surrounded by the love of her husband, son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, after a long and courageous battle with muscular dystrophy and dementia. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., April 11, 2025, at Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., at the Bartlett Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., April 10, 2025, at Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services. Loretta Lynn Fish, 61

Loretta Lynn Fish lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community. Born Tuesday, July 16, 1963 at 12:10 a.m., in Ainsworth, NE, to Harold and Annabelle Nelson. Loretta was the youngest of four girls, being the baby, her sisters always kept close tabs on her. Her sisters ensured that even when distance separated them, their bond remained strong through phone calls.
