Welcome January! The hills and valleys, trees, and grasses were decorated beautifully with Jack’s amazing frost. Temperatures were definitely in keeping with the season. A total of .19 inches of snow fell from January 2 through January 5, 2025. Wind gusts brought actual temperatures to below zero. Overnight lows were -13 and -14 January 5-6. Highs were in the teens. But a warm up to the 30s is in the NOAA Forecast, along with a 30 percent of snow.

The highways of Valentine looked festive this Christmas season. As with all good things, they do have their season. Here, the Electric Department takes down the festive snowflakes as a new year is before us.

As we start the New Year, many people are making resolutions and setting goals for the next 12 months. One of the most common resolutions is to be more active. At Prairie Doc, we want all of our viewers to be both healthy and happy. This week, On Call with the Prairie Doc will be showcasing different ways people can incorporate movement into their lives. There is truly something for everyone.

Many, many asked, What will you do? upon hearing that Midland News was going to close December 25, 2024. My answer, “Pray, because God has a plan.” He always does. Clearly, His plan is to continue to share more stories from the people in our community. We have a creative, active, bustling county that has many needs! The pages of the Midland News have always been filled with the happenings of the day.

As 2024 comes to a close, there is no better time to honor the individuals who make our community a better place t h r o u g h their selfless acts of service. Whether throughsupporting local veterans programs, working with youth and schools, volunteering in churches, or advocating for those in need - there are many incredible people who go above and beyond every day.
