A look back at the first quarter of 2024

It’s that time to begin a look back at 2024 - even though we’re in the very beginning of 2025. Life happens so quickly, that we aren’t always aware of events when they happen. Other times, certain events are more pronounced in our world than others. Here then is a look back at the first three months of 2024.

Valentine Police Report December 15-22, 2024

During the week of December 15-22, the following arrests were made by the Valentine Police Department: On Friday December 20 at 1:20 a.m., a 53 year old Valentine man was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

Smith statement on dispute panel ruling on Mexico’s ban of U.S. grown corn

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) released the following statement after a dispute panel announced its finding that Mexico had violated its commitments under the U.S.-Mexico- Canada Agreement (USMCA) with its decree barring U.S. grown biotech corn. Under USMCA rules, Mexico has 45 days from the date of the report to comply with the ruling.

First pediatric influenza death reported in Nebraska

Lincoln - The first pediatric influenza-related death in Nebraska has been reported to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) this season. Nationally, there have been two additional pediatric flu-related deaths this season according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Most of my family dreads the thought of going to a museum with me. It really doesn’t matter what the museum is, or how interested they might be in the subject, they’d prefer to do something, perhaps anything, else.
