Anatomical Variations: Connecting research and patient care

The human body is composed of a typical pattern of anatomy, yet every structure varies in form from person to person. For example, humans develop with a standard set of defined muscles, yet the shape and mass of each muscle varies significantly among individuals. Sometimes, “anatomical variations” develop – that is, anatomical structures that do not conform to the typical range of regular morphology (for example, an entirely separate “extra” muscle that develops in one person).

Whipple graduates from Young Stockmen’s Academy

Topeka – Brendan Whipple of Nenzel was one of 20 young Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) members from across the state to graduate from the Young Stockmen’s Academy (YSA) November 22, 20204 during the annual KLA Convention. Merck Animal Health partnered with KLA to host members in their 20s for a series of four seminars throughout 2024. This class, the eighteenth since the beginning of the program, brings the total number of YSA graduates to 355.

Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame nominations due by December 31, 2024

Time is quickly running out for the public to submit nominations for the 2025 Nebraska Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame. Nominations are due by December 31, 2024. Started in 2006, the Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame continues to honor the men and women who have made a lasting contribution to the Sandhills and our cowboy way of life.

Jamon Slama named Valentine Police Chief

City Manager Shane Siewert said, “I am pleased to announce that Lieutenant Jamon Slama with the Valentine Police Department has been promoted to serve as Valentine’s Chief of Police. “Chief Slama has been a dedicated member of our law enforcement team for over 20 years and has helped manage the department as the Lieutenant for 17 years.

Capitol tree lighting and Hometown Christmas

Lincoln-Governor Jim Pillen and First Lady Suzanne are inviting Nebraskans to two holiday events on December 8. The first is the annual lighting of the State Christmas Tree. The second event, which will follow immediately after, is the Hometown Christmas at the Governor’s Residence. This year, it includes a salute to veteran and active military. Both events are free.
