Nebraska Public Media will broadcast Omaha Symphony

Lincoln - A new partnership between Nebraska Public Media and the Omaha Symphony will bring the symphony’s music to television viewers across the state. The first in a series of televised concerts, Omaha Symphony in Concert: Emanuel Ax, premieres at 9:00 p.m. CST, Friday, January 26 on Nebraska Public Media.

MPCC releases Fall 2023 Dean’s List A total of 158 students qualified for the Mid-Plains Community College Dean’s List during the 2023 fall semester. To make the list, students had to complete 12 or more applicable credit hours of college-level courses and maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 – 3.89 on a 4.0 scale.

Christian stars Casting Crowns, Anne Wilson coming to Nebraska State Fair

Grammy Award winning Christian artists Casting Crowns will kick start the Nebraska Lottery Concert Series at the Nebraska State Fair on Sunday, August 25, along with special guest Anne Wilson. “We are thrilled to announce the inclusion of Casting Crowns and Anne Wilson in the Nebraska Lottery Concert Series lineup, promising an unforgettable musical experience for all attendees,” said Karli Schulz, Nebraska State Fair Entertainment and Events Director.

VPD searching for information on a shooting at Mathis Equipment

Valentine Police Chief Dana Miller said sometime over the previous weekend, property was damaged at Mathis Equipment. The investigation revealed damage consistent with the use of a firearm. It appears that three New Holland swathers were damaged resulting in approximately $5,000 in loss.

Vets Club soup contest held

Round three of 2024 soup contest had Tony Hanson winning with taco soup! Coming in second was Jason Hoebelheinrich with fajita bean and corn, followed by Holly Critchfield’s chili. Rounding out this weeks contest was Tom Lancaster making his taco soup! Thank you to all our contestants and everyone who came and tasted!!! Join us on the 26th for the final preliminary round.

One Fabulous Dynasty receives top honors

The SDQHRA, SDTA, and the South Dakota Horsemen’s Association held their annual meetings December 2, 2023 in Fort Pierre, SD. Business meetings were conducted and issues discussed. The 2024 race dates have been set for October 5 - 6 2024. The officers of the SDQHRA are as follows: President Mike Lemburg, Vice President Scott Shoun, and Secretary-Treasurer Melissa Cross.
