Possible scam involving Safety Inspection by the State Fire Marshal Agency

VALENTINE– The State Fire Marshal Agency has learned of an effort to scam some facilities under the pretense of Safety Inspections. The scammers contacted a facility to schedule a State Fire Marshal Safety inspection but wanted the customer to pay by bit coin prior to the inspection.

On 09/18/2022 at 9:14 a.m., an officer was requested to respond to the 100 block of North Thatcher Street for a domestic disturbance. A 35 year old Valentine man was arrested for domestic assault, child abuse/neglect and drug possession.

Six states filed a challenge to the Biden Administration’s student loan cancellation program in federal court in Missouri. In it, they ask the Court for an immediate temporary restraining order pausing the program. Prompt relief is being sought because the Biden Administration has indicated it will start cancelling loan balances possibly this week.

Bison Roundup scheduled for October 11-13

Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge is preparing for the annual bison roundup that is scheduled for October 11-13. Refuge staff will begin working bison around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and hope to complete bison sorting by noon on Thursday.
