NSP provides Carrier Enforcement training to 13 agencies

SEPTEMBER 20, 2022, GRAND ISLAND — The Nebraska State Patrol Carrier Enforcement Division has provided troopers and officers from more than a dozen other agencies with skills and knowledge to better serve their communities. NSP held a series of training sessions focused on multiple disciplines of commercial motor vehicles inspections.

Drawdown will affect boating access at three SRAs

A planned drawdown of Lake Ogallala for infrastructure maintenance will affect boating access at three Nebraska state recreation areas this fall. Lake Ogallala, Sutherland Reservoir and Lake Maloney SRAs will have limited access.

VHS students explore their senses in a new way on the Niobrara River

Valentine High School students experienced the Niobrara River in anewway;asanoutdoorclassroom during the Write the River: Creative Writing and Art Float. Nebraska WritingProjectEnglishprofessionals andNationalParkServicerangers from Niobrara National Scenic River introduced the students to different resources and different writing styles.

Niobrara National Scenic River nominated as an Ambassador of Excellence

The National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office in North Platte and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are proud to recognize the Niobrara National Scenic River as an Ambassador of Excellence for 2022. NWS North Platte will present Niobrara National Scenic River their certificate on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. CDT. The ceremony will take place at the Niobrara National Scenic River Visitor Center in Valentine.

Light at the end of the tunnel!

As many of you have seen, IES Incorporated has begun standing lighting units up. The next chapter of lighting has started, and the City of Valentine has been greatly excited to showcase these beautiful light pedestals. These units were specially constructed with LED lights that do not produce light pollution for the surrounding area, but shine bright on our street.

New beginnings for veterans monuments

Last fall the veterans monuments were removed from the front of theCherryCountyJusticeCenter and stored away for the construction phase of Main Street. Tuesday,September13,2022,was the beginning of re-homing those monuments as well as the new Korean and Vietnam monuments.
