First Baptist Church to host Revival Services

The First Baptist Church of Valentine will be hosting Revival Services, May 1-5. The first service will be at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning at the church located at Green and Second Street. The service that evening will be at the Cowboy Church at Valentine Livestock Auction. Then, Monday through Thursday, the services will be held each evening at First Baptist at 7:00 p.m.

Mother Daughter Banquet to be held

The Mother Daughter Banquet will be held at the United Methodist Church in Valentine on Wednesday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. This year the theme is "Let The Son Shine In". Don't have a mother or daughter here in town? Invite a special friend to enjoy an evening together with a meal and entertainment.

Valentine Fire Department responds as mutual aid to Purdum fire

Friday, April 22, 2022 was an incredible weather day. There was a record high temperature reached of 97 degrees which broke the old record of 96 degrees set in 1989, according to NOAA Weather. Meanwhile, the UNL Drought Monitor shows Cherry County split with the western half in a moderate drought and the eastern half in a severe drought. Counties further east including Brown, KeyaPaha, Rock swelling to Pierce and Madison counties on down to the southern border are in extreme drought.

‘Nebraska Stories’ Features 94-Year-Old Carvers, Johnny Carson and Title IX

LINCOLN-Stories about 94-year-old twin brothers who collect and carve petrified wood, a museum that honors the life of the beloved late-night comedian Johnny Carson and a special season finale episode about the 50th anniversary of Title IX legislation are featured in May on Nebraska Public Media’s award-winning, local television series “Nebraska Stories.”

UNL offers scholarships to first year students

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has set a record in offering more than 6,800 universitywide scholarships to the 2022 graduating class from Nebraska high schools and other first-year admits. Nearly two out of three first-year admitted resident students have been offered an academic scholarship for the upcoming school year.
