Nebraska advances $1M for study of troubled ethanol plant

LINCOLN (AP) - Nebraska could spend up to $1 million to study the long-term health and environmental consequences of a troubled ethanol plant under a bill that lawmakers advanced last Thursday. Lawmakers gave the measure first-round approval on a 34-4 vote.

Nebraska to send police body armor, helmets to Ukraine

Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge News

Bison are once again roaming the Refuge along the entrance road near the visitor center. Each spring, bison are moved from the Wilderness Area north of the Niobrara River back into the south side of the refuge. Bison will spend the spring and summer on the south side of the refuge. Within the next week, most of the herd (around 350) will be in the area around the visitor center. Cows will soon be giving birth to calves, and by early May, little red bison will be scattered among the herd. Commissioners approve 2022-2023 waterfowl recommendations

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved 2022-2023 waterfowl hunting season recommendations at its March 23 meeting in Nebraska City. Staff recommended opening duck season in zones 2 and 4 a week earlier than the 2021-2022 season.
