Midlands Contracting, Inc. continues preparations to mobilize two crews onto the IN VALENTINE project.

Change can be good, sometimes it’s even great. And sometimes it’s really best for all involved. With that, Cherry County Hospital and Clinic, and Valentine Medical Clinic have made the decision to merge. They anticipate the change sometime in May.

Illegal drugs are a serious business. Their purpose is to make the cartels and drug manufacturers rich. The cartels and drugs themselves are not concerned at all about your health, your bank account, your home life, your children - unless they’re users; friends, unless they’re users. To them a person using drugs is simply a customer and cash cow.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved 2022-2023 waterfowl hunting season recommendations at its March 23 meeting in Nebraska City. Staff recommended opening duck season in zones 2 and 4 a week earlier than the 2021-2022 season.

Cody-Kilgore and Valentine were just two of the school track teams competing at the 11th annual Ainsworth Relays held Friday, March 25, 2022 at Ainsworth East City Park. The temperatures were in the mid 50s with northwest winds of 24-35 mph.

March 4, 2022, marked the end of a fund raiser Valentine Elementary School did for the American Heart Association which started February 14. After taking a year off, some first through fourth graders at the elementary took part in Kids Heart Challenge, previously known as Jump Rope for Heart, which is a fund raiser to help the American Heart Association do research in order to help with heart sickness and diseases.

I would like to nominate Tagg Buechle for Badger of the Week for being selected as a State Finalist with his Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication Proficiency. Tagg has worked hard the past few years fabricating items and repairing equipment on the ranch and this year has been selected in the top three in the State of Nebraska. He will interview at State FFA in April, attend a banquet, and finally get recognized on stage at Pinnacle Bank Arena!

The Valentine Ministerial Association will be hosting Sermons-ala-Carte. The service starts at 12:00 noon at the Episcopal Church, 372 N. Main St. Service ends at 12:30 followed by food and fellowship in the Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall Those who need to get back to work by 1:00 p.m. are invited to go through the line first.
