Many of you may already know Ryan McSweeney as the football coach, or the Youth Activities Director, but this former Marine is more than fun and games. He’s now an officer with the Valentine Police Department and has been in this role for the past nine months.

First baby of 2022 born at Cherry County Hospital

Welcome Keiko Elizabeth Black Bear! She is the 2022 New Year’s baby, born to Melissa White Horse of Mission, SD, and Benjamin Black Bear IV of Rosebud, SD. Keiko was named after her aunt, and was born January 4, 2022, at Cherry County Hospital.

As this is being written, the temperature is exactly 1 degree and wind chill at -21 This evening it’s supposed to be a low of -12. But we’re going to be looking at some warm weather activities for the months of April through June.

Nebraska could be for everyone after all... RV There Yet?

LINCOLN — Nebraska is more than cows and corn — and really may be for everyone after all. The state will get its Discovery Channel debut January 8, 2022 when RV There Yet? airs episode two, “Not just Cows and Corn,” featuring Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, Platte River State Park and Chadron State Park.

Lt. Gov. Foley declares State Disaster for areas affected by the December 15 windstorms

LINCOLN – December 29, 2021, at the direction of Governor Ricketts, Lieutenant Governor Foley signed a disaster proclamation in response to the severe windstorms that struck Nebraska on December 15, 2021. The proclamation allows for use of the Governor’s Emergency Fund in response to damage that occurred as a result of storms and high winds that downed power lines and trees and created power outages. The state declaration is needed to request a federal disaster declaration for public assistance.
