The lovely thing about living on the California coast was the mild winters. In fact there was year round promise from the weather man that nights would cool off to good sleeping weather and days would be a lovely year round 70 to 80 degrees. Only on rare occasions would the thermometer tip into the 90 degree range. The days felt like heaven. (Speaking of that weatherman: His name was Ronald MacDonald and he lived on the corner of our street. Yes, it’s true.)

On 11/30/2021 at 8:57 a.m., an officer was requested to respond to 2nd and Cherry Streets for a hit and run accident. A 30 year old Valentine man was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, no driver’s license and no proof of insurance.

Lincoln-Staff shortages, mental health concerns and pandemic-induced stress are pushing students and educators to the breaking point, according to a survey of educators conducted by the Nebraska State Education Association. More than 3,100 NSEA members responded to the November survey.

According to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Nebraska's drug overdose death rate has doubled in the last 15 years.
