Twila A. Springer, 73

Twila Ann Springer, 73, was born on September 9, 1948, to parents Paul and DeEtta (Pearson) Madron in Broken Bow. She grew up on the Madron Ranch south of Seneca, and attended Thomas County High School and graduated as Valedictorian in 1966. Twila attended Open Bible College in Des Moines, IA, where she earned degrees in Theology and Sacred Music. Twila played the piano and sang in her college choir group, as they toured the country. While in college, she met her future husband, Steven Springer. They were joined in marriage on August 22, 1969 at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Thedford.

Jack N. Davey, 84

Jack Nelson Davey, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on April 29, 2022 at Scottsdale Osborn Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ. He was 84 years old. Jack was born on September 11, 1937 in Valentine, the son of John Lloyd and Florence May Charbonneau Davey. Jack’s biological dad died when he was only nine months old. Later, his mother married Walter Mack Barnebey, and when Jack was about nine years of age, Walter adopted him. It was Jack’s decision to keep his Davey name, he did so because there was already another Jack Barnebey at the time.

Irma Jean Radant, 95

Jean was born third of four children to Clarence and Stella (Purdy) Nahrstedt at their rural Madison home on May 8, 1926. She attended rural Madison County schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1943. She then apprenticed as a beautician in Norfolk until her marriage to Gerald Radant December 1, 1946. They had 68 years together until Gerald’s death in December 2014. They raised five children on their Madison farm where they farmed, raised cattle, and provided roping stock to many rodeos. Jean worked in the fields and especially hay fields for many years. She later did office work in Norfolk at Dudley Cleaners and for many years at Vulcraft. In 2002, they moved to Valentine.

Jacqueline B. Grace, 93

Jacqueline Bee Bishop was born April 4, 1929, in Valentine to Guy V. and Mildred (Shelbourn) Bishop.

Marilyn D. Bishop, 91

Marilyn Bishop died peacefully on December 29,2021, at the family home in Valentine. Marilyn was born on March 8,1930, at home in Valentine to Guy and Mildred (Shelbourn) Bishop. She attended Valentine Public Schools and graduated high school in 1948. She attended Boise College in Boise, ID, graduating in 1951. She moved to Las Vegas, NV where she taught school for one year at Nellis Air Force Base, then worked at Central Communications until she retired.

Nancy E. Bauer, 75

Nancy Elaine Bauer was born February 17, 1947 in Maniyunk, PA to Lillian M. and Webster W. Little. She started her life playing in the waters of the Delaware and Atlantic Ocean. She loved water and the sun and enjoyed them as much as possible. Her true loves were her dogs, any and all, they ended up at her house. She welcomed all strays into her home, whether they were canine, feline, swine or human, she welcomed any and all. She was a hard worker and her hobby was her yard and trees, and of course her lilac bushes. Not much luck with the willow, though.

Justin J. Albert, 39

Justin John Albert, 39 of Cody, passed away April 12, 2022 in Valentine. Services were held Monday, April 18, 2021 at the White Elephant Hall in Cody with burial following at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Cody.

LaVonne D. Valburg, 79

LaVonne Dure’ Ham Valburg passed away on April 10, 2022 at Avantera in Clark, SD. She was 79 years old. LaVonne was born, August 11, 1942 to Lester and Margaret Ham in Pierre, SD. She grew up in the White River area. Her mother died in 1957. She married Floyd Eugene Valburg on June 5, 1960. Together they raised their family on the ranch near White River. In the late 1990’s they moved to Valentine, due to Floyd’s declining health. Floyd passed away in October, 2005.

Patrick D. ‘Doug’ Crouse, 77

Patrick Douglas ‘Doug’ Crouse, of Valentine, died at home on April 7, 2022. Doug was born September 16, 1944, to Patrick “Pat” and Mary (Klitzing) Crouse.

Memorial Service

Memorial Service for Dean Colburn will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Valentine Presbyterian Church located at 325 Victoria St.
