Top cowboys and cowgirls saddle up for the prairie circuit finals rodeo

Mulvane, KS, October 27, 2025 – Get ready, Kansas! The best cowboys and cowgirls in the Prairie States will compete in Mulvane, KS on November 20-22 to vie for title of champions! The top money winners, after a summer of rodeo, will be at Kansas Star Casino Arena for the Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo, competing for more than $250,000 in prize money. Over 100 competitors will compete in eight events: bareback riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, saddle bronc riding, breakaway roping, barrel racing and bull riding.

MPCC Rodeo Team to host fall breakaway fund raiser November 8

The Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team will host a fall breakaway roping fundraiser November 8, at the Kiplinger Arena in McCook. This year’s event will feature junior high, high school, and open divisions.

2025 NSAA Volleyball and Football Championships on Nebraska Public Media

LINCOLN, NE, October 22, 2025 – November brings NSAA State High School Volleyball and Football championships to Nebraska Public Media. Volleyball championships are Saturday, November 8, with Class D-2 at 9:00 a.m., followed by Class D-1 at 11:00 a.m., Class C-2 at 1:00 p.m., Class C-1 at 3:00 p.m., Class B at 5:00 p.m., Class A at 7:00 p.m.

Lady Badgers to host sub-district play

The Lady Badgers just finished a nice winning streak last week which was there when they played the Mullen Lady Broncos, Tuesday, October 21, 2025. The team won in two sets: 25-19 and a close 26-24.

Fletcher and Titus competed in NSAA State XC

“I’m very proud of how our two state qualifiers performed at state. While the weather was windy and misting at times, the cooler weather definitely helped our runners. Taylie Fletcher finished 82nd out of 121 runners with a time of 22:38 which was just a few seconds off of her personal record set earlier this season at O’Neill.

Young Badgers end season with 3-1

The 12U Tackle Football team ended their season on Sunday. The team hosted Boyd County for their final game of the season. It was a windy afternoon, but the young Badgers played some tough football and held the Boyd County Spartans to only one touchdown, 44-8. The team ended their season 3-1. It was an exciting season and lots of lessons learned.

Wolves maul Cowboys 62-16

Friday, October 3, 2025 the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys hosted perennial 6-man powerhouse, the Arthur County Wolves in what ended in a crushing defeat as the Cowboys lost 62-16. Highlights for the Cowboys include CK senior Kaden McNare, who rushed for 75 yards, scored one touchdown, and accounted for three tackles.

Hawks soar over Cowboys 78-12

Last week the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys faced the Hay Springs Hawks Friday October, 10, 2025 and lost by the score 78-12. The Hawks held the Cowboys scoreless until the third quarter, which severely limited Cody-Kilgore’s chances for a comeback victory.

Lady Badgers host triangular

The Lady Badgers have had a very busy week. They played against Todd County, October 14, 2025 and won in three sets: 25-21, 30-28, 25-12.
