Tough week for the Lady Badgers

The Lady Badgers traveled to O’Neill Tuesday, September 10, 2024, where they played the West Holt Huskies and lost in two sets. Scoring: Valentine - 7, 9 = 0 West Holt - 25, 25 = 2 In the next game against the O’Neill Huskies, the Lady Badgers lost in two sets. Scoring: Valentine - 19, 13 = 0 O’Neill - 25, 25 = 2 There were 8 kills in the game with Aiden Hand having 3; Annalena Nelson and Cadence swanson each with 2; Danika Janssen, 1. Kimber McGinley led in Ace serves with 2; Cadence Swanson, Aiden Hand, and Olena Felton each with 1. There were 22 digs in the game and Kimber McGinley with 8; Danika Janssen, 6; Cadence Swanson, 5; Tygh Miller, 3. The team traveled to Cozad Saturday, September 14 where they played Ainsworth, and came up short. Scoring: Valentine - 15, 14 = 0 Ainsworth - 25, 25 = 2 Stats weren’t available as of press time. The Lady Badgers will travel to McCook, Saturday, September 21.

Badger FB brings home the win!

The Badger football team dominated on the Gibbon field and came away with a 22-6 victory, Friday, September 13, 2024. Scoring by quarters: Valentine - 8, 12, 0, 2 = 22 Gibbon - 0, 0, 6, 0 = 6 In the first quarter, Parker Chavez had a one yard TD run and good two point conversion putting the first numbers on the scoreboard 8-0.

Secretary of State certifies pair of medical cannabis petitions for November ballot

The Secretary of State’s Elections Division certified that signature requirements have been met for the Nebraska Medical Cannabis Patient Protection initiative petition and the Nebraska Medical Cannabis Regulation initiative petition for the November 5, general election ballot. County election offices completed signature verification within the 40-day period as required in Nebraska Revised Statute § 32-1409.

Lady Badgers place fifth at Chadron Invite

Tuesday, September 10, 2024 the Lady Badgers varsity and JV teams traveled to Chadron. The varsity team placed fifth out of six teams with 447. Chadron was in first place with 373; Scottsbluff, 393; Sidney, 406; Gering, 443; Valentine, 447; Alliance, 466.

XC season began at Frederick Peak

The Badgers Cross Country team held their second annual invite at Frederick Peak Thursday, August 29, 2024. Varsity boys results are as follows: fourth place, Isaac Utecht, 20:46; sixth place, Devlin Welch, 21:03; ninth place, Deklin Titus, 22:04; 14th place, Tanner Two Strike, 23:42; 20th place, Duncan Mosner, 24:31.

Memorial run raises $10K for Smith Falls trails

The Tyler Vanderheiden Memorial Run, an annual race aimed at raising awareness and understanding of mental health, raised $10,000 for Nebraska Game and Parks state park trails in 2024. To date, supporters of the Vanderheiden Memorial run have contributed more than $30,000 to the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation to support trails.

Nebraska High School Rodeo at Nebraska State Fair!

Valentine and Kilgore youth competed at the rodeo in Grand Island at the Nebraska State Fair, Monday, September 2, 2024. The results are as follows: All Around Cowboy - ninth place, Colter Austin of Valentine, 12.740 Team Roping - ninth place, Tyler McCauley and Sutton Schrunk of Valentine, 17.5; Emerson Mc-Intyre and Cash Cooper of Kilgore, 18.710.

Badger Volleyball results

Thursday, August 29, 2024, the Badgers lost in three sets against Bennett County 3-0. Saturday, August 31, the team played at Minden where they lost to Minden in two sets.
