Stellar day for Valentine Kids Fishing Clinic

Saturday, May 4, 2024, 52 youth attended the Valentine Kids Fishing Clinic at the State Fish Hatchery. Helping with the clinic were Nebraska Game and Parks Valentine staff: Zac, Logan D., Logan G., and Derrek.

Nothing brings out paddlers like warm temperatures and fresh spring air. Those enjoying Nebraska’s water bodies and water trails through May are urged to be cautious as air temperatures are rising, but the water is still cold and can be dangerous.

Free curbside lunches for summer youth at VHS

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like Valentine Community Schools to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer.

Results of the Greg Gass Invitational

It was a windy, chilly, Friday, May 3, 2024 when Valentine hosted the Greg Gass Invitational. Coach Blake Beebout said, “I can’t thank everyone who helped out with our track meet enough. We were able to get the meet in, beat the rain, and the kids were able to compete in front of their home crowd. I’m very proud of our student-athletes and our community of helpers for their performance at the Greg Gass Invitational. I’m very excited to watch our athletes compete at Districts, especially with how well we did at our own meet. Both Boys and Girls brought home 1st place team trophies.”

FFA students help out Senior Center

Thursday, April 25, 2024, Police Chief Dana Miller and Deputy Weston Goodrich went to Simeon Rural School to share their knowledge of criminal investigations with the students of Simeon and Cutcomb Schools.

Three medal at Ainsworth Invite

Monday, April 29, 2024, the Badger Golf Team traveled to Ainsworth and placed third out of seven teams with 372. There were two varsity medals - sixth place for Caden Stankoski with 89; ninth place for Tanner Two Strike with 91; and a JV medal for Reeves Witte in fourth place with 101.

Eight local ladies going to American Legion Girls State

Representing Cody American Legion Post #319 and Leo Brinda Unit #90, eight local young ladies will be attending American Legion Girls State. They include: Ayden Naslund, Kate Cox, Ally Heath, Emma Thompson, Riley Sexson, Emma Kreutner, Jenalee Garwood, and Marybelle Ward.
