Nebraska contains more acres of wetlands than any surrounding state. These diverse wetlands include marshes, lakes, river and stream backwaters, oxbows, wet meadows, fens, forested swamps and seeps.

The Sandhills Cattle Association Steers for Students tour

On April 17, 2023, the Sandhills Cattle Association held a Steers for Students tour at Husker Meats LLC in Ainsworth. SCA decided to have this extra event because of the increasing interest in their Steers for Students program and to get as many students as possible into the locker!

Badger golf results = medals

The Badgers competed at the Ainsworth Invite, Tuesday, May 2, and placed fourth with 391. Medaling were fifth place tie, Logan Muirhead with 89; seventh place, Jackson Ravenscroft wiht 93.

Other ways to celebrate Nebraska Bird Month

The Birding Bowl isn’t the only way to celebrate Nebraska Bird Month! Events will be taking place across the state throughout the month to celebrate birds. From birding hikes and presentations to games, crafts and glow-in-the-dark egg hunts, there is something for all ages and interests happening this month.

Four compete in Norfolk Classic

Congratulations to the 2023 Norfolk Classic qualifiers. Isaac Cronin tied for fifth place in High Jump with 6’0”.

Badger results from West Holt

VHS results from the West Holt Invite held Thursday, April 20, 2023. Coach Blake Beebout said, “Our kids did a great job of competing in some of the tougher elements - weather wise we have faced this year. I was extremely pleased with how our kids responded to coaching and warmed up properly. The kids set a lot of PRs against tough competition. It was also great to see teammates step up and fill in for some injuries we have faced lately. We are trending the right direction as we head into our toughest meet of the season, the SWC Meet. We look forward to watching our kids compete against our SWC op-ponents.”

Nelson named Head Wrestling Coach at VHS

Valentine Community Schools is pleased to announce Marcus Nelson as the new Head Wrestling Coach for Valentine High School. Marcus has been the assistant coach for the Todd County Falcons for the last five years. He has also served as the head middle school coach for two years.
