Area youth attend Log N 4-H Camp

Nebraska Extension in the Panhandle held the kick-off event for the new leadership program Leadership Opportunities for Growth in Nebraska 4-H (LOG N 4-H) on May 25-26, 2021 at the State 4-H Camp in Halsey.

Valentine FBLA celebrates end of the year

As the 2020-2021 school year comes to an end, the Valentine FBLA also wound down. We held our end-of-the-year party. We went to the Peppermill to have a final group meeting and then celebrated our accomplishments of this past year.

2021 National Junior High Rodeo area qualifiers

Five area cowboy and cowgirls have qualified to compete for a National Championship at the 16th annual NHSRA Junior High Finals Rodeo to be held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, IA, June 20-26, 2021.

VMS track team breaks two records this season

The Valentine Middle School 4x800M Relay team broke a record for the second time this season. The team of Aubrey Benson, Aiden Hand, Christen Malard, Maile Patterson, and alternate Samantha Sprenger, pictured above, competed at the Junior High State Track Meet held in Gothenburg on May 15, 2021.

State Golf results

The Badger Golf Team played at the Kearney Country Club May 25-26, 2021 in Class C NSAA Boys Golf Championship. “The top 15 schools in Class C qualified for state championship in Kearney and Valentine ended up 15 out of 75 Class C schools in Nebraska,” said Coach Devin Muirhead.

A real life history lesson

Valentine Elementary School students visited Cherry County Historical Society Museum, May 6, 2021. It was with pleasure that the students were able to look throughout the museum and answer questions their teachers had written out for them to find the answers to. It was a little like a treasure hunt.

Interact Club finishes season strong!

The Valentine Interact Club had a successful year culminating in a flurry of activity in April and May. The 24 high school members and officers were busy organizing their second Red Cross blood drive of this school year where they collected a total of 41 units from students and faculty.

Boys Golf qualifies for NSAA State Golf!

The Boys Golf team played Tuesday, may 18, 2021 in District play and the team got third place out of 13. This qualifies them for NSAA Class C State Golf Championships Tuesday and Wednesday, May 25-26 in Kearney.

2021 Cherry County 4-H summer programs open to all youth!

Cherry County 4-H announces the following summer programs offered to all area youth, regardless of enrollment in the program. IF your child is five through 18 as of January 1, 2021. If they’re interested in participating in any County or State Fair events, they must enroll by June 15, 2021.
