Nebraska schools receive $45,000 in grant funding from EducationQuest Foundation

Lincoln - EducationQuest Foundation has awarded 70 Nebraska schools with Eighth Grade Campus Visit Grants totaling nearly $45,000. The schools will use the grants, which range from $143 to $850, to help fund college visits and related activities to get students on the path to college.

NPPD donates $15,000 toward scholarships at Mid-Plains

Mid-Plains Community College President Ryan Purdy receives two checks totaling $15,000 from Bill Hoyt, member of the Nebraska Public Power District Board of Directors, during a MPCC Board of Governors meeting in McCook Wednesday night.

Kissinger WMA closed until further notice

Kissinger Wildlife Management Area is temporarily closed effective immediately due to the presence of two endangered whooping cranes. The closure will be lifted once the cranes have left the area.

Lady Badgers win over Todd County

The Lady Badgers traveled to Todd County, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, where they took on the Todd County Lady Falcons and came away with a win in three sets. Scoring: 25-5, 10-25, 4-25.

Kimber McGinley, Sophomore, Volleyball Kimber has grown in her defensive role throughout the season. She has accumulated 189 digs this season, with 35 coming in our four-set match against Gordon-Rushville! She also had a passing average in our Valentine Invite of 2.1 on a 3-point scale! Her teamoriented attitude and play throughout the season have enabled her to improve her performance and be a consistent teammate who is constantly communicating on the floor!

SCHOLAR OF THE WEEK

Jenalee Garwood, Sophomore I feel that Jenalee is a perfect choice for Scholar of the Week. As a sophmore she is taking two dual-credit courses, is doubling up on math, and learning Spanish without scheduling a study hall. She is a very hard worker and manages to maintain a cumulative GPA in the high A's. Keep up the great work, Jenalee!

Nebraskans are urged to check boats, boat lifts and docks for invasive species when removing them from water bodies for the winter. Aquatic hitchhikers like zebra mussels can live up to two weeks out of water, and several lakes across the Midwest are first noticed to be infested by people removing boats, lifts and docks for the winter.
