VALENTINE, Neb. – The 2026 Light Up the Falls celebration at Smith Falls State Park shone brighter than ever this year, welcoming nearly 750 visitors to an evening of patriotic color, outdoor adventure, and community partnership.

The Cherry County Ag Society met Monday, June 8 and voted on a new theme for the 2026 Cherry County Fair. There were four entries from area 4-H youth members. The winning theme is Uncle Sam, Apple Pie, & County Fair by RJ Dean.

BROOKINGS, S.D. June 9, 2026 - More than 3,900 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance over the spring 2026 semester at South Dakota State University by being named to the Deans List.

An enthusiastic bunch turned out to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Niobrara National Scenic River and kick off the summer paddling season. The Friends of the Niobrara and National Park Service staff partnered to host the May 23 event.
